I went to store and bought only good stuff for myself so looks like Iβll stay on track. My son went with me and picked up snacks for himself, but Iβm not tempted at all by it. π

Good for you! Snacking is what gets most people into trouble. Iβve been doing better. Trying to mainly have soups, salads and healthy TV dinners. Itβs a struggle, but I will adapt. Itβs healthier for me, anyway π

I'm back trying to at least just write down what I eat. Not amounts, not calories or macros but if I have a handful of M&Ms I write it down. It does seem to help keep me from eating quite as much junk if I have to write it down.
I'm really looking forward to cooler weather cause soups and such are so easy to make and keep around for several days. I can do soup and salad 2-3 meals in a row and be just happy. But not in the summer when it's hot UGH.

But not in the summer when it's hot UGH. Me, too! I have pumpkin soup, tomato basil, and leek/asparagus soups that I love to make in the fall. I canβt even think about making them when temperatures are 90-100 which the are now.

I usually just buy premade soups and add shiitake mushrooms and other veggies, rice or potatoes. Hot soup is no different to me than eating any other hot food. Itβs healthy and takes less than 5-minutes to fix, so I am good with it. Iβve been having less issues with inflammation too since theyβre gluten-free.
I put in another order π° at Nuts.com. They were giving away a pound of free pistachios, so I couldnβt resist. My daughter is coming to visit soon and hopefully sheβll help me with them. π Theyβre one of my favorites, but very fattening.
Iβve had mixed results this week. Kept my portion size under control, fried hardly anything, but did cave in on potato chips with my sandwiches twice. I feel like I am struggling more to lose weight than when I was younger.

I definitely have found that age makes it more difficult to lose weight. In my opinion, I think our bodies are metabolically challenged and canβt filter stuff out like we used to when we were younger.
Iβve done fairly well with sticking to my plan. No cravings, but I am finding it difficult to maintain my water intake while at work. Yep, I think Iβm beginning to fight another uti.
edited: scratch that, I have stomach bug π

I've been reading a newly released book I borrowed from my library, 'Good Energy' by Casey Means. It has some very interesting information about diet, weight loss (why some cannot lose weight no matter what diet they try), healthy/unhealthy foods, exercise, etc. Having celiac disease and being lactose intolerant limits my food, and I've always been one to stick with organic, non-GMO, unprocessed (or so I thought!) foods, little to no (added)sugars, etc., but this book showed that even my strict healthy diet could use some improvement. Enlightening reading for those interested... www.amazon.com/Good-Energy-Surprising-Connection-Metabolism/dp/0593712641/ref=sr_1_1?sr=8-1

Iβm going to have to see if itβs available at my library β€οΈ Interesting that you say some foods you thought were unprocessed, but really arenβt. I also try to eat organic, non-GMO, avoid sugar and unprocessed foods. Although I do eat some processed foods occasionally. I usually have to deal with inflammation for it though. Ugh. Update: My husband just sent me a video by Casey & her brother. Iβm going to watch it later today Calley & Casey Means Interview

I'll check out the interview this week.

I had a book recommended to me called Body Ecology. Iβm definitely interested in it and my friend says she feels so much better when she follows the bookβs advice.
I have to admit that I havenβt read a diet and nutrition book in ages. I have found what works for myself through trial and many, many errors.

My daughter has been visiting me so my diet has pretty much been kaput ππ€£π We have been eating everything one shouldnβt, but we have been having fun!
On the positive side,I did drink a small bottle of juice yesterday at a food truck festival. It was the only thing affordable. They wanted between $15-25 for basic meals, so we purchased the reasonably priced juices and went home for dinner.

Hurricane snacks - diet fail, but here we go. We've been getting heavy rains here in NW Florida. Hope you're doing okay! I've been eating up all the leftover processed food since I hate waste. I will be glad when it's gone.

Oh no! Karla, you got our rain!
We survived! And I ate 4 pints of ice cream in 2 days. They were going to melt so I saved them. π«£π€£

I put on weight just from my daughter's short visit. So easy to put on, and such a struggle to take off. I'm going to try to eat more fruits & veggies. Starting soon, I hope. Went out last night to get a hummus wrap, I not only ate my chips, but scarfed down my husband's as well. Unfortunately, I can't resist a Lay's potato chip.
