Her story was heartbreaking, but at least she overcame her poor body image and turned it into a positive life change. It's tragic that so many people feel most of their worth comes from their looks. I was always trying to be thinner, even when I was a size six, lol. I didn't go to extremes though. I just worked out more and was careful about what I ate. I still maintained a healthy body weight. Although my husband would disagree. He thought that I was too skinny. I've put on about 10-15lbs since getting married and wear a size 10-12 now. I mainly eat whole foods and buy organic when possible. My frozen TV dinners are usually Amy's and organic. I cheat sometimes and eat vegan pizza and other processed foods. I have a ton of raw food recipe books somewhere and wish I could eat more raw foods. When I used to eat at a raw food restaurant (closed now) I felt more energized. They also sold fabulous juices.

Yes, it is sad that people tie so much of their self-worth into their looks / physical aspect. I wasted so many years trying to change my body (sometimes through unhealthy means) and get that 'certain look' that will make me more attractive to others. If I had put all that effort into my inner being, I'd be so enlightened I'd float. LOL I could definitely put on a few -- 10 to 15 -- pounds, but I listen to my body and know that it will tell me what it wants when it wants it and to not force it to do or be what it isn't. I also try to eat more raw foods but due to digestive issues, I have to be careful as my body can't always break it down, which leads to much pain. I do eat organic 98% of the time though; I just make sure I prepare my food in a way that my body can digest and utilize it.
