I was reminiscing about the past which made me think of my very first video workout. It was Kathy Smith, Fat Burning Workout. My sister introduced me to the Firm Vol 1, and I was immediately hooked. I pre bought every Firm workout after that.
Iβm curious. What was your first ever video workout, or what got you started on exercising from home?

My mother brought me 2 VHS workouts that she never used. Leslie Sansone (cover had Tomanello) & Kathy Smith's Winning Workout. Around 1999??? So I could do something at home when I had twins. Never went back to the gym, but was 6x/week for many years prior to pregnancy.
Exercise/fitness BEGAN playing field hockey at age 11 - played for 20+ yrs, started power-lifting at uni gym at 20yrs, started gym classes to music a year after that - and stuck with the latter for over a decade.

I bought 2 Kathy Smith Tapes one high impact and one low impact which I did first. I was hooked. I credit Kathy with my home video start. Previously I was doing Yoga class, and Jazz. I was about to start Jazz class with a friend at the gym and we heard the music of the new aerobics class next door. We changed rooms and nearly died on the spot , aerobics was so intense and high impact.

Great thread, great memories! For me it was Bodies in Motion with Gilad that started the VF fever so many years ago. My parents had the show on cable TV and I'd asked them to tape it for me. I will always be thankful for that, the habit stuck for decades and what a great journey it's been!

My very first video workout was Lean Routine - it was a riot - Jane Fonda in a lace bodysuit!
After that one I acquired some Kathy Smith workouts and a few others but kept my collection pretty small. My true vidiocy kicked off in 1998 when I borrowed FIRM Tortoise and Hare from the public library - that kicked off my video obsession!

If I remember correctly, I think my first video was also a Blockbuster rental -- Jane Fonda's New Workout. I can still hear Leslie C (?) singing. I loved it at the time. I haven't done the workout in so long.

IIRC, my first video workout was one of the FIRM's. Many, many, many videos followed after that but I am now down to a couple DVD's since I currently stream 99.999999% of the time.

My very first workouts were Jane Fonda's Workout and Joanie Greggains Aerobic Shape-Up on LP. I was still working out in the gym when I had these. When I started home workouts, my first VHS workout was The Ultimate Video workout with Kathy Smith. When I found the VF community I discovered Cathe and the The Firm workouts. I was hooked.

My sister isnβt on here, but back in the day I remember her doing the 20-minute workout that was on TV. I honestly canβt remember if it was broadcast via a local channel or PBS. The outfits are pretty amazing as well as the makeup and hair. If you want a blast from the past, hereβs a link to a YouTube sample: youtu.be/1ag0nyb5L8s?si=nbw29iM9Og17OFj9

It was Kathy Smith, but I cannot remember which one. My mom had purchased The Firm Vol. 2 at one point, but I was intimidated by it after previewing so I never tried. Bought it many years later when Fitness Favorites remastered it on DVD and love it!

I actually don't recall what my first one was but I had the Kathy Smith Fat Burning then signed up for the FIRM auto send program so got those when they were released. I found VF at some point and it my exercising has been going strong ever since. What a great thread.

It was a Denise Austin VHS, but I don't remember which one. It was probably either "Non-Aerobic Trim & Tone Workout" or "30 Minute Fat-Burning Workout."

Love those Jane Fonda workouts. I still like doing them about once a year when nostalgia strikes (so much more variety we can choose from these days, more than that doesn't happen). To me it feels her workouts stand the test of time very well, despite the outdated workout clothes etc. I just love the vibe of her classes and impeccable instruction and the workouts ard very effective and well done.
